THE NORSE DIOCESE

A short summary of the advent of Christianity in Norway. There is also information about the Danish and Swedish Churches' early history. A student of the early 'Scottish Church' must necessarily recognise the importance of the Norse influence in the Dioceses of Orkney and the Isles (and to a lesser extent Caithness).

Here, we present a refutation of many years of historical nonsense and present a picture which we feel is much more akin to reality - that it would be more correct to think of 'wandering bishops' who had no fixed sees than to speak of such ridiculous concepts as a Bishop of Mortlach and his corresponding Diocese!

A brief article introducing the route by which St Ninian brought a 'regular' form of monasticism to Scotland from Gaul.

There has been a great deal of debate regarding the form of Liturgy that was used in the Early Church. This article seeks to set out some of the essential characteristics of the Liturgy.

THE FIRST REFORMATION

This short paper introduces the idea that there have been two Reformations in the Scottish Church. It also asks questions about the extent to which the First Reformation of St Margaret actually changed the Church. Was it a matter of faith or practice? There is also the suggesion that the Early Church was not as 'barbarous' as Bishop Turgot suggested!
